A short blurb on me...
Hi,
I'm Ian Miller of Gananoque Ontario. I'm a thirty-something college grad who has spent far too long with the Canadian Forces. Currently I'm working as an audio visual technician at Fort Frontenac but I'm always looking for something different...
I am a very liberal individual, holding many left wing values. Some days I'd vote Green while on others it might be NDP or Liberal; but when it comes down to the wire I'm a sucker for the strategic vote.
My interests are far ranging and very diverse, but if it's somehow linked to living a sustainable life then I'm probably interested. I do a lot of system integration at work and my leisure activities are not far removed, with web development, micro-controller programming, PHP development and wireless communication being my primary means of avoiding house work. Having said that, I come with a good grounding in theology, science, arts and construction with a bit of musical theatre production.
I've bounced around online with various aliases that I've forgotten or otherwise erased from memory over the years. I found the Internet in the early '90's while I was in high school, and I recall the excitment of connecting to a site across the country for the first time. I remember when connecting to a BBS at 2400bps was normal, ANSI Colour graphics were pretty cool and you browsed the Internet by Telnet with Lynx. Oh so many years ago...
Other tidbits...
- I attended LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston in the early '90's. I was one of the editors of 'The Knight Times'.
- I attended Gananoque Secondary School in the mid '90's where I was involved with the GSS Musical Theatre in a technical capacity and was also editor of the 'CommTech Times'; the school paper.
- I was a casket bearer for the repatriation of Canada's Unknown Soldier in May 2000.
- I have a small house in Gananoque. Now after some extensive renovations I'm preparing to sell it.
- I have some property on Wolfe Island where I'm slowly building a house. It'll be an odd house with solar thermal and electric panels, and if things go as planned it will integrate parts of a recycled building and a form of rammed earth building called earthbag building - aka sandbags...
- I'm a member of the Board of Directors for the Gananoque Concert Association.
And that is me - in point form anyways... For all the small details, you'll have to contact me...
